If you have flown anywhere lately, you probably remember that "if there is a sudden change in cabin pressure during flight, oxygen masks will descend from the compartment above you. Slip the strap over your head and position the mask over your nose and mouth. Adjust the mask to fit securely by pulling the tabs on either side"...blah, blah, blah and ends with "secure your mask before assisting others." Basically, if you don't make sure YOU can breathe first, then YOU won't be able to help anyone because...well, you get my point. This is the same sort of thing as tonight's passage. We need to be concerned about cleaning up our own lives instead of pointing fingers at others. Even better, how about we not even compare our lives and try to discern who is living "better". Romans clearly says that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", we are no better or worse than anyone else, by the grace of God through faith in Christ, we have forgiveness for our sins. Let's focus on talking MORE about salvation through faith in Christ, and not be so "I'm not sure if they're a good fit for my church..." Lord help me/us/Your church, get beyond ourselves and love on people...regardless of what specks they have in their eye, and thank you for delivering me/us/Your church from the logs in our eyes through Jesus. Move mightily Lord, that you would use all things for Your purpose and glory. Amen.
