I was thinking today about Jacob's encounter with God. Jacob met God face to face, and after a night wrestling, he walked with a limp.
Genesis 32;30
30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.
We are blessed to be able to call on the name of the Lord and that he hears us in our pain and our suffering. Sometimes, when we are closest to Him, and we make it known to Him the strength of our desire, He grants them, though sometimes not without pain. Notice that Jacob is not complaining about the limp, he is instead thankful that his life was spared. This was very convicting for me today. We (including me) should not be complaining about our circumstance, we should be rather rejoicing that we are involved in God's work and that HE has spared our lives. We all, after all, have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but by placing our faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, have been given eternal life through Christ Jesus. Amen!
