Was Lost

No matter how hard life gets, no matter how many mistakes you make, GOD LOVES YOU and wants you to return to him!  He wants a relationship with us, he longs for us to return to Him.

Luke 15;32
32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.

The story of the prodigal son is so powerful.  It is the story of an arrogant, foolish young man who squanders his inheritance seeking the pleasures of the world.  After all of his temporary wealth is gone, he finds himself in a position much lower than any he had been in before and decides to return to his father and ask if he could simply be a worker, since he was no longer fit to be a son.  The father sees his son off in the distance and runs to him, clothes him with a robe and puts a ring on his finger.  The father has the fattened calf slaughtered and a feast is held to celebrate his return.  The father accepts the son back as a son, not as a worker, but as a son who was dead and is now alive.  The older brother is upset by this, and the father has to explain it to him (verse 32 above).

Sometimes, we see need to be reminded how much God treasures each of us...and I love that in verse 32, God makes sure to drive home the point, so there was no question about the intent of the story.  So encouraging!
