The Splendor of His Creation

The other day I was driving home with my daughter in the car.  I like to take "the scenic route" home whenever possible.  My daughter, who is 4 years old, asked me why I was going the way I was going. I explained that I wanted to enjoy the beauty of God's creation.  She seemed ok with that answer, but still seemed confused.  So I asked her if she liked to look at pictures and paintings of her favorite things.  She replied "O yeah, I do!"  I told her that when I take the scenic route, it is like going to see special paintings that God has made just for me.  We both enjoyed the scenic drive.

Tonight after everyone had gone to bed, I went outside in the cool night air.  Melted snow trod underfoot, and the cool breeze of night filled my nostrils.   The brightness of the city lights reflecting off the clouds and the luminescence drawing the eye upwards to the heavens.  The stars shown as pin holes in a royal curtain and I couldn't help but to be caught up in the moment and worship Him that created this all.   How lucky we are to not just enjoy the splendor of His creation, but that even more so we get to enjoy the splendor of His love, the intimacy of His love, and the Majesty of His power forever.  I can not comprehend the height nor the depth of His great love for us, but I'm glad that I can't because it means I can dream as big as I can and know that His love is still so much more, that He is so much more.  Amen!

Psalm 8

1 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
